Welcome to Traveler. This Privacy Policy explains how wareOne LLC, doing business as Traveler ("we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards your information when you use our route-weather platform and related services (collectively, the "Service").
We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. Please read this policy carefully. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
When you create an account or use our Service, you may provide us with:
- Account Information: Email address, name, and password (stored securely as a cryptographic hash)
- Profile Information: Any additional information you choose to add to your profile
- Payment Information: When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are processed securely by our payment processor, Stripe. We store only a customer identifier and subscription status—never your full payment card details
- Communications: Information you provide when contacting support or providing feedback
- Saved Routes: Routes and destinations you choose to save within the app
Information Collected Automatically
When you use our Service, we automatically collect:
- Location Data: With your explicit permission, we collect your device's geographic location (latitude, longitude, accuracy, speed, and heading) to center the map and plan routes from your current position. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings, though this will limit certain features.
- Route Information: Start and end coordinates of routes you request, along with the route geometry, to deliver relevant forecast and alert data along the path.
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device type for optimizing your experience.
- Log Data: For security purposes, we log IP addresses and user agent strings when you log in, log out, or perform security-sensitive actions.
- Usage Preferences: Theme preferences, map settings, and UI configurations stored locally on your device.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and browser local storage to:
- Maintain your authentication session (access and refresh tokens)
- Store your location permission status and preferences
- Cache route data temporarily (1-hour expiration) for faster loading
- Remember your saved routes and UI preferences
- Detect if you've dismissed the PWA installation prompt
Our cookies are essential for the Service to function. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Deliver route-aware NWS weather forecasts, active alerts, animated radar, and AI-generated briefings along your routes
- Process your subscription and manage your account
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Detect, prevent, and address security issues and fraudulent activity
- Analyze usage patterns to improve performance and user experience
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not: Sell your personal information. We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not share your location history with third parties for marketing purposes.

Service Providers
We work with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Service:
- Mapbox: Receives route coordinates to provide mapping, geocoding, and directions services. See Mapbox Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: Processes payments securely. Your payment information is sent directly to Stripe. See Stripe Privacy Policy.

Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to:
- Valid legal process (subpoena, court order, or government request)

Business Transfers

- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account, plus a 30-day grace period for account recovery
- Route and Location Data: Cached for up to 30 days, then automatically deleted
- Security Audit Logs: Retained for 90 days to support security investigations
- Saved Routes: Retained until you delete them or close your account
- Payment Records: Retained as required by financial regulations (typically 7 years)
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:
- All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
- Passwords are stored using cryptographic hashing (never in plain text)
- Authentication tokens are stored in HTTP-only, secure cookies
- Access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel
- We use role-based access controls within our systems

Deletion

You can disable location access at any time through your browser or device settings. Note that this will limit your ability to receive route-specific weather and alert data.
Marketing Communications
We only send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, subscription updates). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

We are planning to expand to Canada, Mexico, and South America. When we do, we will update this policy to address applicable privacy laws in those regions.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@511.travel, and we will delete such information.
Users between 13 and 18 years of age may use the Service with parental consent.
